I Once Was

My inspiration for this work was Masaccio’s fresco Trinity with the Virgin which shows a skeleton beneath the fresco with the statement “I Once Was What You Are, And What I Am You Also Will Be”. When I came upon this rotting and decaying Brockway truck I could visualize that quote on the bumper with a skeleton beneath it. A painting with a skeleton or a skull is called a Momento Mori. Oil on Canvas. 30″ x 36″.
